Introducing North East Development Society (NEDS)

NEDS is a non-political, non-communal and non-profit making NGO at the regional(NE) level. It is a people-based and people-oriented Civil Society which has been championing the cause of the Dalits, SC, ST, Minority and other vulnerable sections of the society with a prime focus on the distressed and downtrodden women and children for the last 7 years.

To cause around development to the dalits, depressed and downcast segment of the society in a self-sustained manner with active people’s participation in all the stages of development programs.
To spread literacy and education, both formal and non-formal, among the illiterate, ignorant and other people belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
To work towards holistic & futuristic development of community based on decentralized economy & social justice.

MANAGEMENT OF THE ORGANIZAITON

NEDS is governed, managed and controlled by an Executive Committee consisting of 7 members including 4 office bearers. The members of the Executive Committee are elected from among the general members every five years interval. The Executive Committee, the main decision-making platform of the Organization, is represented by the Social Workers, lawyer, business men, house wives and the rural men & women belonging to low socio-economic condition. More than 1/3rd members of the executive body belong to SC & ST communities coming from very low socio-economic strata. Any important decision is taken by majority vote in the meeting of the Executive Committee. Besides, there is a General Body represented by 196 members. The Executive Committee sometimes forms different Monitoring Cells and Bodies for the supervision of different projects and activities. There are also different staffs for special programs.
