Our History

NEDS traces its origins to a group of local educated youth, led by Anjan Kumar Das, who were deeply moved by the dire conditions faced by rural communities in the Barak Valley of Assam. Motivated by compassion and a commitment to social change, they established NEDS with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the marginalized.

Introducing North East Development Society (NEDS)

Welcome to North East Development Society (NEDS), a non-political, non-communal, and non-profit organization dedicated to serving the marginalized communities of the North East region. Founded in 2003, NEDS has been a beacon of hope for Dalits, SC, ST, Minority groups, distressed women, and children, striving for their upliftment and empowerment.

NEDS' Holistic Approach and Impact

NEDS believes in the equality and justice of all human beings irrespective of caste, creed, clan and gender. It intends to integrate the marginalized & vulnerable section of the society in the mainstream of development and achieve their self-reliance through the launching of different sustainable development programs. It visualizes a Social Order in which women will not be exploited and they will enjoy equal rights and privileges with their male counterparts in society and also women will have joint partnership with the men in the development process.
The mission of NEDS is to cause sustainable development to the dalits, distressed and downtrodden segment of the society with a prime focus on the vulnerable & socially excluded women and neglected children.

Driven by a people-based and people-oriented ethos, NEDS employs a holistic approach to development. We believe in addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by marginalized communities through education, healthcare, livelihood opportunities, and community welfare initiatives.

NEDS is guided by principles of compassion, integrity, and inclusivity. We prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized, striving to create a society where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
